Pedestrians on the far west side of campus will be rerouted through Lot 12 due to construction of Building S and the Multi-disciplinary Instructional Building. The left lane of Comet Circle will be closed except during the first two weeks of school.

As Palomar College continues construction on new buildings, students may find obstacles in their way as they drive around Comet Circle and walk around campus.
In order to insure the safety of students, CW Driver, the construction company employed by Palomar, and the college will be rerouting pedestrians walking along the west side of Comet Circle, according to James Swan, superintendent of CW Driver. Swan said pedestrians will be required to walk through Lot 12 instead of along the sidewalk.
Swan added that the left lane of Comet Circle near the construction zone will be closed for most of the semester, as it will serve as a loading and unloading zone for materials and equipment. However, the school has made a commitment to keep all lanes open during the first two weeks of school.
In order to reduce congestion, Facilities Construction Manager Chris Miller suggests students use the Borden Road exit at the north end of campus or the Las Posas exit instead of the Mission Road exit.
CW Driver is currently working on laying pipes and electrical lines and they plan on pouring cement in late spring or early summer. They will continue construction during midterms in finals, although they will limit noise.
Swan said they have estimates as to how long the construction will last but they have not yet released dates.
