Blood drive

American Red Cross is visiting Palomar College's San Marcos Campus the week of May 11-15 to conduct a blood drive. Students who donate a pint of blood will receive an American Red Cross t-shirt, as well as have the chance to enter a drawing for a free one-year gym membership.

Watch live footage here as Palomar students Roger Alapizco and Morgan Haire donate blood with the assistance of American Red Cross Lab Technicians Ana Sanchez and Cesar Manzo.

"It takes about four to 20 minutes for us to get a pint," Manzo said. "But we suggest donors wait here at least an hour before they leave.

The bus can hold up to four donors at a time, and they usually get a lot of participants, Manzo said.

The drive is being sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and the Health Services Department.

Students interested in participating may call Yvette Martinez in Health Services (760) 744-1150, ext.2380 to make an appointment, or simply stop by the blood mobile in parking lot 11 between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

And for those who missed this opportunity to donate blood, the American Red Cross will be back on campus July 13-15 in conjunction with Vans Warped Tour. Donors at that time will receive a VIP backstage pass for the tour. For more information on the July drive, visit www.musicsaveslives.org.
